His major publications include "The System of Modern Korean Literature and the Formation of Novel Forms," "Modernism and Tradition in 1930s Korean Literature," "The Subject and Ideology of Contemporary Korean Novels," "The Face of Colonial Joseon Reflected in Gaebyeok" (co-authored), and "The Ideology of Korean Language Textbooks" (co-authored), among a total of 23 books. He has published 43 research papers in journals such as Korean Language and Literature, Korean Language and Culture, Studies in Spiritual Culture, Studies in Contemporary Literature, Studies in National Literary History, and Korean Literary Theory and Criticism. He was selected for the Excellent Academic Books by the Korean Academy of Sciences in 2005, served as an exchange researcher at Waseda University, and conducted research projects on "Studies on Modern Korean Overseas Travel Writings," "The Historical Correlation Between East Asian Regional Representation and the Colonial Modern Self-Image," and "The Colonial Modernity of Korea and the Mental Geography of the World System," supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the POSCO TJ Park Foundation.
